Original Italian by Grazia Deledda (1871-1936), ‘La primavera’

the colour of rocks. Descending from mountains,
silver veins, a thousand silent rivulets,
glimmering in the vivid green of grass.
The stream shuddered at the end of the valley among
peaches and almonds in bloom, and all was pure
young, fresh, beneath the silver light of the sky.
