Love has made me so I live in fire,
a salamander, queen of her domain,
or that creature of similar vein
who born in flames, then in flames retire.
My delight is all and my desire:
to live ablaze and never feel the pain,
care not if love eventually will wane
and they who took my heart become a liar.
For when one fiery ardour, cooled, has died
then Love another sparks in me once yet,
more forceful and indeed intensified
and I do not this burning love regret
as long as they who took my heart aside
my burning ardour do never forget.
